PAGANISM - and what it means to me I have been a Pagan for as long as I can remember. Even as a child I would love watching the moon and stars and can remember spending hours lying in the grass watching the clouds float by in the sky. The idea that there is just one God never really made any sense to me and so I have always acknowledged the Goddess too. I live my life attuned to the cycle of nature, the seasons and to life and death. The four ancient elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water have special significance to me. The importance of these is hard to define because they have so many correspondences. For example, the elements are associated with the four directions of North, East, South and West. Each element is a kind of spiritual substance from which all things are made but especially our selves. In addition to this they are the guardians both of our selves and of the Goddess and God. They also guard the gateways between this world and the next.
